Cambridge Mathematics of Information in Healthcare

 

Fiona was appointed to the Chair of Radiology in Cambridge in 2011. She has held various positions in the past – Chair of the Academic committee of the Royal College of Radiologists, Chair of the NCRI Imaging Advisory group, Chair of the Royal College of Radiologists Breast Group, previous co-chair of the NCRI PET Research Development group. She sat on guideline development groups for breast imaging for SIGN and NICE and the family history of breast cancer guideline development group. She was the Radiology Representative – Scottish Cancer Group (2001-2005) and member of the Cancer Research Portfolio Steering Group, Chief Scientist’s Office (2003–2007). She was a member of the NIHR EME Board and a member of the Commissioning Board for the Health Technology Assessment Panel (2003-2006). She is President of the European Society of Breast Imaging and chair of the breast subcommittee of Radiological Society of North America.

Fiona's current research interests are in evaluating breast Tomosynthesis, non FDG radiotracers in cancer, and breast MRI. She is interested in using imaging to gain a better understanding of tumour physiology. She is testing risk adapted breast screening in women with dense breasts with different imaging modalities and varying frequency of mammography. She is working in Artificial intelligence to improve early cancer detection.
